On June 2, 2023, Mr. Zhang Weitao, Charge d'Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in the FSM paid a courtesy call on H.E. Wesley W. Simina, President of the FSM, to deliver the congratulatory message from President Xi Jinping to President Simina. Mr. Zhang exchanged views on China-FSM relations and practical cooperation with President Simina.

Charge d'Affaires Zhang stressed that President Xi attaches great importance to the development of China-FSM relations and stands ready to join hands with President Simina to support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests, deepen exchanges and cooperation across the board, and promote continuous development of the China-FSM Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, so as to deliver more benefits to the two peoples. China looks forward to working with FSM's new administration to deepen bilateral relations and cooperation.

President Simina expressed gratitude for President Xi's congratulatory message and let Charge d'Affaires Zhang convey his cordial greetings and best wishes to President Xi. President Simina appreciated China's long-term generous assistance to the FSM and said that the FSM government will continue to firmly abide by the one-China principle, actively support the advancement of bilateral ties, and look forward to strengthening the practical cooperation in various fields including infrastructure and people-to-people exchanges, pushing forward the development of China-FSM relations.
