On August 26, 2008, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Federated States of Micronesia held a seminar for over 10 FSM trainees, from either national government or relevant departments of the four states, who had participated 2008 Human Resources Development Program seminars/training courses in China sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce in China.

Ambassador LIU Fei briefed the guests on the goal of the Chinese Government Human Resources Development Program and its current situation, especially those fitting for FSM participants. She said that the training program helped strengthen China-FSM friendly cooperation and promote FSM's economic development. The seminar provided an occasion for the trainees to exchange views and share experience. She expected the two countries to expand cooperation in Human Resources Development Program in future. The trainees spoke enthusiastically of their perspectives and experiences in China. They were amazed at the great socioeconomic progress China had achieved. They introduced the practical application of what they had learned from the seminars after they returned to the FSM, and forwarded their suggestions on the improvement of the training programs.

After the seminar, the Chinese Embassy had a reception for the trainees and 4 students who obtained the Chinese Government Full Scholarship for 2008/2009 with their parents. The trainees shared what they know about China with the students and parents. Ambassador LIU hoped that the students would cherish this valuable opportunity to study hard, in order to serve their home country in future and promote the friendly relationship between China and the FSM.
