First of all, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy, I wish to extend my appreciation to the Shenzhen Art Troupe taking a long trip to Pohnpei and thank all of you for being here tonight. This is a year of happiness and celebration for China and FSM as it marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between us. Together Chinese Embassy and FSM government hosted a series of event, the highlight of which is this show tonight.
In the past 25 years, cooperation between China and FSM in all areas has been developing sound and fast, among them is the increasing culture exchanges. As a Chinese saying goes that State to State relations thrive when there is friendship between its peoples; such friendship grows out of close interaction. Serving as a bridge for communication, culture exchange plays an important part in state to state relations. This art performance tonight just offers an opportunity for FSM people to conduct a spiritual exchange with Chinese people and its culture.
Chinese culture has a longstanding history and is deep rooted. It is profound and extensive. Tonight, you will enjoy charming Chinese dances, fascinating martial arts, popular classical songs, Chinese traditional musical instruments playing and etc. I hope you will feel the unique charm of Chinese culture through these performances and be inspired to learn more about China after the show. I believe as the culture exchanges between us keep increasing, China and FSM relations will be further expanded and deepened.
