From February 25 to March 5, His Excellency ZHANG Weidong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Federated States of Micronesia visited Yap for the Yap Day celebration.

Upon his arrival, Ambassador ZHANG paid courtesy calls on the Yap State Leadership, expressing his appreciation and gratefulness for the invitation and hospitality, exchanging views with them in related business. He congratulated them their success to make the Yap Day as an important and well-known event not only in Yap and the FSM,but also internationally.

On March 1st and 2nd, Ambassador ZHANG observed the Yap Day celebration on the venue together with other delegation members and tourists. Fascinated by the traditional skills, Ambassador ZHANG even participated in the navigation and canoe carving demonstrations.

On March 4th, Ambassador ZHANG visited the resettlement communities for outer island residents and Yap High School and COM Yap Campus.

On February 28th , which was the Chinese Lunar Lantern Festival, Ambassador ZHANG hosted a reception for the Chinese nationals in Yap and jointly celebrated the traditional Festival.
