Dear President Hu,

On this special occasion marking the 20th Anniversary of the Diplomatic Relations between the Federated States of Micronesia and the People's Republic of China, I offer you and your people warm greetings and sincere congratulations on this historic event. We have come a long way in a short time to realize true friendship based on a solid foundation of shared interests and values, including the one-China policy, which occupies the key cornerstone in the overall architecture of our bilateral relations. Indeed, our relationship has matured considerably during these years, thanks to the diligent and committed work demonstrated through joint efforts by our two peoples in forging a model relationship that we can both be proud of.

I am pleased that our celebration of this remarkable achievement is a joint one to signify the spirit of partnership and the growing bonds of friendship that exist between our two countries and two peoples. With myriad of challenges ahead of us spurred by an increasingly globalized world, we will count on the strength of our partnership and friendship not only to see us through but to turn them into opportunities for mutual gains.

My country and people have greatly benefited from the generous assistance provided by your esteemed government under your strong leadership. May I take this opportunity to express the unremitting gratitude and appreciation of my government and people, and our hopes for greater friendship and partnership in the years ahead.

In assuring you of my continued personal resolve to strengthen FSM-Sino relations, in the coming days, may I ask your continued friendship and support in that regard.

Sincerely,

Emanuel Mori

President
