On September 7, the Chinese Embassy and the expert group of the Agricultural Technology Cooperation Project in the Federated States of Micronesia jointly held an open day at the China-aid FSM Pilot Farm. H.E. Ambassador Wu Wei and Hon. Lorin S. Robert, Secretary of the Department of Foreign affairs of the FSM, attended the event and delivered a speech. Hon. Jane J. Chigiyal, Chief of Staff of the Office of the President of the FSM, Hon. Kandhi A. Elieisar, Special Consultant on Foreign Affairs to the President of the FSM, Hon. Samson E. Pretrick, Director of the Office of Personnel of the FSM, Hon. Francisco L. Ioanis, Acting Governor of Pohnpei State, Hon. Mcgarry Miguel, Vice Speaker of Pohnpei State Legislature, Hon. Nelbert Perez, Senator of Pohnpei State Legislature, along with more than 40 dignitaries and public representatives of the FSM attended the event.

H.E. Wu reviewed the development achievements of China-FSM cooperation over the past 35 years, introduced the results of the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. He said that China is willing to work with the FSM to deepen practical cooperation in agriculture and other fields, so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples.

Hon. Robert delivered a speech on behalf of President Simina and Vice President Palik. He thanked China for its long-term contribution to the economic development and improvement of people’s well-being of the FSM, and said that the FSM will continue to strengthen cooperation with China to promote more results in FSM-China relations.

The open day proceeded in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The guests visited the demonstration area of the Pilot Farm, watched cooking demonstration, and picked watermelons and vegetables. They made positive comments on the project, and expressed their continued support for China-FSM friendship and cooperation.
