On January 9, 2026, Chinese Ambassador H.E. Wu Wei attended the handover ceremony of medications and medical supplies by China Medical Team in the FSM to the Pohnpei State Hospital. T.H. Marcus Samo, Secretary of Department of Health and Social Affairs, Senator Shelten G. Neth, Chairman of Committee on Health of the 11th Pohnpei State Legislature, Mr. Patterson K. Shed, Chief of Staff of Pohnpei State, Mr. Stuard Penias, Pohnpei State Department of Health and Social Services, members of Chinese Medical Teams in the FSM, representatives from Pohnpei State Hospital and officials attended the event.

Ambassador Wu said that President Xi Jinping initiated to work together to foster a global community of health for all, having provided China’s wisdom and solutions to the global health endeavor. He hoped that the Chinese Medical Team in the FSM will implement the common understandings between the heads of two countries, and continue to use their medical proficiency and ethics to benefit local people through their concrete actions. China is ready to work closely with the FSM, on the basis of One-China principle, to deepen medical and health cooperation, provide more high-quality medical services to the FSM people, and work together to build a global community of health for all.

Secretary Samo, Chairman Neth, Chief of Staff Shed delivered remarks extending gratitude for the invaluable contributions and continued support from the Chinese Government and Chinese Medical Team in the FSM, and expect more cooperation on traditional medicine in the future.
