Ambassador Huang Zheng Met with Delegation from People's Government of Zhongshan City

On September 13, H.E. Ambassador Huang Zheng met with the delegation led by Mr. Yuan Yongkang, Deputy Mayor from the People’s Government of Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, China. Mr. Xu Fan, member of the leadership of Chinese Embassy in the FSM and other staffs of the Embassy attended the meeting.

Ambassador Huang warmly welcomed the delegation, introduced the development of the China-FSM relations, and expressed sincere thanks and high appreciations for the important role played by Zhongshan City in carrying out the peer-to-peer pattern assistance to the FSM and carrying out projects to improve local people’s livelihood under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy. Huang said that Zhongshan City should continue to give play its traditional advantages of "sending medicine and drama to islands" to promote the development of the FSM medical and health sector by institutionalizing these advantages and enrich the cultural life of the local people, bringing more benefits from bilateral cooperations to peoples in both countries. Zhongshan City should make great efforts to create brand projects in new areas such as "sending teachers to islands", to explore the possibility of sending volunteers to teach Chinese language at primary and secondary schools in the FSM and to actively give scholarships for training medical personnel and providing vocational training such as electrical maintenance. Huang expected that Zhongshan city could make full use of its economic and technological advantages, enhance exchanges and cooperations with the FSM, and make greater contributions to promoting China-FSM strategic partnership to a new high and advancing Major Country Diplomacy with Chinese Characteristics in a New Era.

Deputy Mayor Yuan introduced the assistance from Zhongshan to the FSM in recent years and expressed sincere thanks to the Embassy for its support for Zhongshan foreign affairs activities.Yuan said that Zhongshan City will thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, cooperate with the Embassy to promote assistance to the FSM, and better serve Major Country Diplomacy with Chinese Characteristics in a New Era.
