On Sep. 17 and 18, two splendid art performances, jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture of China, Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture Sport and Tourism and Chinese Embassy in FSM, were successfully held in China-FSM Friendship Sports Centre of COM national campus. Around 3000 people in Pohnpei were attracted to the show, including Foreign Secretary Lorin Robert, Pohnpei State Governor John Ehsa, Director of SBOC office Ms.Evelyn Adolph and other FSM national and state officials, diplomatic corps, representatives of international and regional organizations and people of all walks of life, making the gym reach its full capacity during the two shows.
Ambassador Zhang Lianyun, Foreign Secretary Lorin Robert and Ms. Wang Min, head of the Shenzhen Art Troupe gave brief remarks to the audiences before the show. Ambassador Zhang extended his appreciation to the art troupe for making such an uneasy yet worthy trip to FSM. He further emphasized the importance of the role cultural exchanges played in China-FSM relations, by quoting from a traditional Chinese saying, 'State to State relations thrive when there is friendship between its people and such friendship grows out of close interactions between them'. Describing the show as not only the highlight of a series of celebration events planned this year for the 25 years' diplomatic relations between China and FSM, but also an opportunity for Chinese and FSM people to enhance their mutual understanding, Ambassador Zhang expressed his conviction that as the cultural exchanges continued to expand, China-FSM relations shall have a better and brighter future.
