On February 25, 2025, Chinese Ambassador H.E. Wu Wei attended the handover ceremony of medications and medical supplies by China Medical Team in the FSM to the Pohnpei State Hospital. T. H. Marcus Samo, Secretary of Department of Health and Social Affairs, T. H.  Stevenson A. Joseph, Governor of Pohnpei State, Senator Tendy Tesiwo Liwy and Senator Aurelio P. Joab of the Pohnpei State Legislature, Mr. Benjamin Rodriguez, Chief of Staff of Pohnpei State, Mr. Stuard Penias, Pohnpei State Department of Health and Social Services, members of Chinese Medical Teams in the FSM, representatives from Pohnpei State Hospital and officials attended the event.

Ambassador Wu highlighted that President Xi Jinping initiated to work together to foster a global community of health for all, having provided China’s knowledge and solutions to the global health endeavor, and said the contribution and donation made by the China Medical Team in the FSM has been and will always be a legacy in China-FSM friendship. He hoped that the Chinese Medical Team in the FSM will implement the common understandings between the heads of two countries, keep carrying forward the spirit of the Chinese Medical Team, and continue to use their medical proficiency and ethics to benefit local people through their concrete actions, thus making greater contributions to China-FSM Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Secretary Samo, Governor Joseph and Senator Liwy delivered remarks extending gratitude for the invaluable contributions and continued support from the Chinese Government and Chinese Medical Team in the FSM, and underscored the importance of international partnership in advancing healthcare services in the FSM. They expressed that the donation will play a crucial role in ensuring the continued delivery of quality medical care to the people of Pohnpei.
