On September 16, the Cliff Rainbow Restaurant in the Federated States of Micronesia was well-decorated and filled with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The Chinese Embassy in the FSM held the Reception to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the FSM.

Ambassador Wu Wei first paid respects to the traditional leaders and people of the FSM, and extended warm welcome and greetings to all the guests. Wu introduced the historic development achievements of China since its founding 75 years ago and the fruitful results of China-FSM relations on the basis of the one-China principle over the past 35 years, expounded the great significance of the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Wu said that Chinese modernization is bringing more and more development opportunities to countries including the FSM, and that China is willing to work with the FSM to implement the important understandings reached by H.E. President Xi Jinping and H.E. President Simina, and jointly write a new glorious chapter of China-FSM relations.

Hon. Secretary Robert delivered a remark on behalf of the Government of the FSM, reiterated that the FSM side firmly adheres to the one-China policy, spoke highly of the results of President Simina’s state visit to China and China’s development achievements, and thanked China for its contribution to supporting the FSM development and people’s well-being of the FSM. He said that the FSM stands ready to work with China to continuously promote the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries to a new level.

At the reception, President Simina, Vice President Palik, Vice Speaker Romolow, Secretary Robert and Ambassador Wu cut the cake together to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the China-FSM diplomatic relations. COM-FSM choir performed folk songs of the two countries, and received warm response.

Guests praised China’s development achievements, warmly congratulated to the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 35th anniversary of the China-FSM diplomatic relations, and said the reception was a big success.
