H.E. Ambassador Huang Zheng Meets with T.H. Carson K. Sigrah, Governor of Kosrae State

On March 14th, 2022, Ambassador Huang Zheng met with the Governor of the FSM State of Kosrae T.H. Carson K. Sigrah, when he was on a business trip to Pohnpei State. Rolinson Neth, Special Assistant to Governor, Mr. Kalvin Ehmes, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asian Affairs of the FSM Foreign Affairs Department, Counselor Zhang Weitao, Deputy Chief of Mission, among others, were present. 


Ambassador Huang briefed Governor Sigrah on the recent development of China-FSM relations, the progress of bilateral exchange and cooperation in various fields, Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, and the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) as well as its substantial results. Ambassador Huang emphasized that China’s international development cooperation has always been following the principles of equality, mutual benefit, openness and sustainability. Ambassador Huang said, China’s assistance to Pacific island countries, including the FSM, aims at building a China-Pacific Island Countries community with a shared future, thus it is the sincerest and most selfless one. One-China Principle is the fundamental bedrock of China-FSM relations. Ambassador Huang praised the Kosrae government and its people, under the leadership of Governor Sigrah, for the economic and social development that has been achieved, and encouraged him to contribute to implementing the important consensus reached between Presidents of our two countries during their meeting in Beijing and advancing the China-FSM Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. 



To start with, Governor Sigrah congratulated Beijing on successfully hosting the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. He spoke highly of the remarkable contributions China has made for promoting the development of Olympic Movement. Governor Sigrah then thanked the large amount of long-term, sincere and selfless assistance provided by China and its Shandong Province, which is Kosrae’s sister province, and solemnly presented a letter to Ambassador Huang thanking China for carrying out projects for public well-being in Kosrae, including building two multifunctional gymnasiums.  Governor Sigrah said that, firmly upholding the One-China Principle as always, the Kosrae government and himself will actively promote result-oriented bilateral cooperation in all sectors, contribute to the China-FSM Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the China-FSM Great Friendship.
