H.E. Ambassador Huang Zheng Meets with T.H. Alexander Narruhn, Newly- Elected Governor of Chuuk State

On April 21st, 2021, Ambassador Huang Zheng met with T.H. Alexander R. Narruhn, the newly-elected governor of the FSM State of Chuuk, when he was on a business trip to the State of Pohnpei. Counselor Zhang Weitao, Deputy Chief of Mission, among others, attended the meeting.

After congratulating Governor Narruhn on the winning of the gubernatorial election in March and his swearing-in last week, Ambassador Huang briefed him on the recent development of bilateral relations, practical cooperation in various fields, the friendly relationship between Chuuk and Guangdong Province and Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy. Ambassador Huang reiterated that China's foreign aid (aka China-Aid) has always been following the principles of equality, mutual benefit, openness and sustainability, thus it is the sincerest and most selfless one. He continued to emphasize that the One-China Principle is the fundamental bedrock of China-FSM relations. Ambassador Huang hoped that the state government and people of Chuuk, under the leadership of Governor Narruhn, will achieve further economic and social development. He encouraged Governor Narruhn to contribute to implementing the important consensus between PRC President Xi Jinping and FSM President David W. Panuelo reached during President Panuelo's historic visit to China and developing the China-FSM Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in depth.

Governor Narruhn thanked Ambassador Huang, as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in the FSM, for meeting him immediately following his inauguration and being the first foreign envoy to send a congratulatory message on his successful election to be Governor of Chuuk, fully demonstrating that China attaches great importance to its relations with the FSM and Chuuk state. Governor Narruhn then extended heartfelt appreciation for the consistent large mount of sincere and selfless assistance provided by China and its Guangdong Province. He stressed that he himself and the Chuuk state government, firmly upholding the One-China Principle as always, will actively promote bilateral result-oriented cooperation in all sectors and make great contribution to the advancement of the FSM-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and "Great Friendship".
