Chinese Government Special Envoy for Pacific Island Countries Affairs H.E. Qian Bo paid a successful visit to the FSM

From March 1 to March 2, 2023, H.E. Qian Bo, the Chinese Government Special Envoy for Pacific Island Countries Affairs paid a successful visit to the Federated States of Micronesia. During his visit, Qian Bo had a friendly conversation with H.E. David W. Panuelo, President of the FSM, and held talks with T.H. Kandhi A. Elieisar, Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Mrs. Jane Chigiyal, Chief of Staff. The two sides had friendly and in-depth communication on the China-FSM relations and practical cooperation.

Special Envoy Qian Bo conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and best wishes to President Panuelo. Qian Bo said that China attaches great importance to the China-FSM relations and appreciates the FSM's long-term adherence to the one-China Principle. China stands ready to work with the FSM to implement the important consensus reached by the two countries' leaders, enhance political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, and elevate the China-FSM comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level.

President Panuelo and Secretary Elieisar congratulated Mr. Qian Bo on his appointment as the Chinese Government Special Envoy for Pacific Island Countries Affairs and welcomed him and his delegation to visit the FSM. The FSM side expressed its sincere appreciation for China's long-term selfless assistance to the FSM and made positive comments on China's policy toward Pacific Island Countries. The FSM will continue to firmly abide by the one-China Principle and is willing to make joint efforts with China to advance greater development of bilateral relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual interest.
