H.E. Ambassador Huang Zheng Meets with T.H. Elina Akinaga, FSM Secretary of Resources and Development

On March 22, 2022, Ambassador Huang Zheng met with T.H. Elina Akinaga, Secretary of the Department of Resources and Development. Mr. Bermance Aldis, Program Manager for the Division of Tourism, and Counselor Zhang Weitao, Deputy Chief of Mission, among others, attended the meeting. 



Ambassador Huang briefed Secretary Akinaga on Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy and the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) as well as its substantial results. Ambassador Huang emphasized that China’s international development cooperation has always been following the principles of equality, mutual benefit, openness and sustainability. Ambassador Huang said, China’s assistance to Pacific island countries, the FSM included, aims at building a China-Pacific Island Countries community with a shared future, thus it is the sincerest and most selfless one. One-China Principle is the fundamental bedrock of China-FSM relations. Ambassador Huang noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations more than thirty-two years ago, China and the FSM enjoy increasing political mutual trust, fruitful cooperation achievements in various fields, and great people-to-people and cultural exchanges. It has brought tangible benefits to the two countries and two peoples. China stands ready to work with the FSM to implement the important consensus reached between Presidents of our two countries during their meeting in Beijing, strengthen practical cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, investment, tourism, agriculture and marine resource utilization, so as to advance and substantiate the China-FSM Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, said Ambassador Huang. 


Secretary Akinaga noted her view on China-FSM relations has much in common with Ambassador Huang’s and expressed gratitude for the large amount of long-term, sincere and selfless assistance provided by China to the FSM. She said that she and the FSM government will firmly uphold the One-China Principle as always, actively learn from China’s successful development experience, constantly expand and deepen result-oriented bilateral cooperation in various sectors, and contribute to the China-FSM Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the China-FSM Great Friendship.
